Our new lake home has just been completed and we could not be happier with the entire experience and the final product. John and his team have exceeded our expectations. We were impressed with the regular updates and pictures regarding the progress of the home since we live about four hours away.
We have had three previous new homes built and this was by far our best experience for the following reasons: The workmanship and the quality were completed at the highest level. John and his entire team, including the subcontractors had one focus and that was for everything to be completed to our satisfaction. In addition, John’s follow-up and attention to detail was excellent and he made several good suggestions on items we had not considered.
We are very pleased and proud of our new home from the design to the quality of the workmanship. The masonry work, the interior trim work and the custom cabinets surpasses anything I have ever seen in any home. Working with the Johnson Construction team was an example of teamwork at its best. As we near the completion of the construction of our new lake home, I have been very pleased with my experience of working with JCD. There are three areas that stand out where JCD has exceeded my expectations. The first is in the level of communication provided by JCD owner John Johnson. Whether it be John’s timely responsiveness to e-mails, his capturing and sharing pictures of the construction process on a regular basis (via e-mail or Dropbox), or his pro-active communications when selection decisions need to be made well in advance of deadlines, the homeowner is always up to date on the progress of their home. The second is JCD’s fixed fee contract structure. In this structure, JDC has no incentive to steer the homeowner towards more expensive options and it allows JCD to work directly with the homeowner to achieve a desired budget. The third is in the transparency and accuracy of the project construction cost. JCD typically provides written quotes from competing sub-contractors and allows the homebuyer to make the decision on which subcontractor to use. This allows the homebuyer to participate in the construction process to the level they desire and ultimately spend their money on the components they value the most - and there have been no issues obtaining lien releases when sub-contractors are used. Overall, I would highly recommend JCD to anyone looking for an honest builder of a quality home that understands the value of communication and keeping the homeowner involved in the building process. This is the fifth home my wife and I have had built and this has been the most enjoyable experience by far.
